Award for Chair of Trustees - 23/05/2012




Well Known Catholic Educationalist and Chair of Rainbows Bereavement Charity awarded Honorary Fellowship for his ministry in education.

Frank McDermott, a nationally well-known ‘gentle giant’ within Catholic education and especially in the North East,  has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by The College of Teachers at the Institute of Education of the University of London … for making a significant and lasting contribution to education on a national level. Frank has accepted it on behalf of Catholic Education and Rainbows Bereavement Support Great Britain.

The Honorary Fellowship is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated a sustained and significant contribution to education on a national or international scale. Previous recipients have included: Sir Michael Barber, Baroness Estelle Morris, Lady Elizabeth Vallance, Professor David Bellamy, Professor Sir Tim Brighouse, Dr Johnny Ball and Lord Ronald Dearing.

Frank is now devoting his energies as Chair of Trustees of Rainbows Bereavement Support Great Britain, a national charity which currently works in over 700 schools supporting children and young people grieving a significant and often devastating loss in their lives.
